Ouzo

Our Ouzo, an anise (licorice) spirit, is made in the southern Greek tradition. We use a combination of three botanicals; star anise, anise seed, and licorice root to create a smooth, well-rounded flavor. Using star anise as the primary ingredient in place of the more traditional anise seed creates a softer flavor profile which allows us to use only a fraction of the sugar typically added when we proof it down to 90 proof (45% abv). The flavor compound we extract from the anise – anethole for you science geeks – creates a bold, deep licorice flavored spirit traditionally consumed as an apertif. We like it with the main course and dessert, too!
