In spring of 2016, hot on the heels of the successful release of Gold Rum Batch 2, we had some rum barrels that need to be put to use. So we bought some of the last cider the local presses were making for the season and set about to create an apple brandy aged in rum barrels.
After four and a half months resting in our rum barrels, the Apple Brandy is finally ready to hit your lips. It tempts with an aroma of butterscotch and candied plum which yields to a warm, roasted apple and peach body as it crosses the palate. A smooth oaked caramel finish rounds out the flavor profile. We love to sip this one neat with desert. If you’re a fan of our white rum, adding an ice cube really enhances the rum flavors. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail, try subbing in Apple Brandy for whiskey in an Old Fashioned, or upping the fruitiness by shaking 2oz of Apple Brandy over ice with 1oz of SPD Triple Sec and 2/3oz Lemon Juice.
